Teen Summer Program Opening Party - Read the Night Away!

This party will be held on June 8th and starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. Bring your pillows or blankets to sit on while you read. Come with your own book or pick one up at the library. There will be activities during this "Read the Night Away" event, such as Glow-in-the-Dark bowling, Ninja, crafts, and of course, food and treats!

Regular Teen activities will be held every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., starting on June 12th and running through July 17th.

Earn Prizes by Reading!

You can earn prizes by reading books. For every book you read, fill out a form (available starting June 8 on the website and at the library) and turn it in for a scratch card which will reveal your prize. Save your scratch card and keep reading. Once you've read four books and collected four scratch cards, turn the cards in for a bigger prize! Some of the prizes you can earn by reading books include movie tickets, candy, pop, combo meals, ice cream, and more!

Each form you turn in will also be added to a grand prize drawing at the end of the Teen Summer Reading Program.

Photography Contest

Teens (ages 13-18) can submit up to two photos for the PGCL Teen Photography Contest. Starting June 19, email your photograph(s) to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Your photo should capture what this year’s Teen Summer Program theme, “Own the Night,” means to you and must be your own original work. It must be appropriate for viewing in the library setting. Along with the photograph, you must submit your name and contact information.

Submissions will be accepted June 19 through July 10. There will be two winners: Popular Vote and Judge’s Award. Voting and judging will start July 11 and end July 25. The popular vote will take place through Facebook and email. Starting July 11, contest photos will be viewable on the library’s Facebook account (www.facebook.com/PGCityLibrary), where people may vote for photos by “liking” them. Those that do not have a Facebook account can submit votes via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The photo that gets the most “likes” and email votes (only one vote is allowed per person) will be the winner of the Popular Vote. The other winner will be decided through judging. Both the winners of the Popular Vote and Judge’s Award will be announced on July 26.

One winner will receive a $15 iTunes gift card and the other winner will get a $15 Barnes and Noble Gift Card.

Foosball, human size!

July 3 @ 3:30 p.m. - Lazy Afternoon (Movie-TBA)
Take a break from the summer heat and watch a movie at the library while munching on popcorn. Movie title to be announced.

July 10 @ 3:30 p.m. - Franken Toys
Create your own monster by combining different toys and dolls.

July 17 @ 3:30 p.m. - Summer Olympics
Celebrate the Summer Olympics with a trivia style game that's known as a mad relay. All the answers are provided at the start of the game and no running is involved (unless you want to) so no need to brush up on your Olympics knowledge or train hard for this event!
